Liposuction: Going Micro

From MSNBC Liposuction: Going micro

Nov. 7, 2005 issue - Brandy Montoya, 28, eats healthy and visits the gym at least three times a week. But as hard as she tried, she could not get the bottom half of her body to match her smaller torso.

So in July, she signed up for $9,000 worth of liposuction. Denver plastic surgeon John Millard performed a new procedure, LipoSelection, which uses ultrasound to liquefy fat before it's suctioned out of the body, often resulting in less bruising. Montoya said goodbye to millions of fat cells on her thighs, her hips—and even the inner part of her knees. "I look like somebody you'd be jealous of, I really do," she says

Liposelection-The Next Generation Of Liposuction

From WNDU.com Liposelection-The next generation of liposuction

For people who want to lose weight in a specific part of their body, like the thighs or stomach, liposuction can be the answer. But it often takes weeks of recovery. Now, a new procedure may change that

Plastic surgeon Edmond A. Zingaro, M.D., says: “There’s less bruising. There's less pain. There's less swelling.”

Traditional liposuction sucks out fat. But this procedure uses ultrasound energy to liquify the fat first. There’s less bruising because it targets only fat -- leaving other tissue unharmed. Then, the liquid fat is sucked out through a tube.

“It’s a lot kinder to the tissue, so the patients seem to recover a lot quicker,” says Dr. Zingaro, from Plastic Surgery Medical Group in San Francisco

LipoSelection: Revolutionary Surgery

From Lasplash.com LipoSelection:A revolutionary breakthrough in plastic surgery

The field of plastic surgery is always announcing new developments and ideas, and Dr. Reza Sadrian is not going to be left behind.

A new breakthrough in body-sculpting has arrived, called LipoSelection, in which high-intensity ultrasound technology is used to literally melt the fat away. Gone are the days of accidentally losing parts you want to keep. No more will a doctor be actually cutting into your body and sucking things out.

Where before, vital tissues could be harmed, LipoSelection allows the surgeon to be non-invasive and selective, reducing just the fat. The American Society for Aesthetic Plastic Surgeries realizes that this new method "could revolutionize body sculpting."

Surgery For The Busy Woman

From Female First Surgery for the busy woman

In a recent poll done at the Body beautiful show, almost half of women said they would consider plastic surgery.

But many people are put off by long recovery times and invasive procedures.

Now the cosmetic surgery industry hopes to woo those who think they don't have time for the knife, with a range of new procedures.
From Italy, there is "liposelection" Developed by Dr Roberto Viel. This technique means that individual fat cells are pinpointed and, melted using ultrasound waves. The fat is then removed, without damage to the surrounding tissue.

Dr Viel said:
"The result will be better aesthetically and there will also be a quicker recovery time for the patient. With traditional liposculpture you need five to six weeks before you are ready for the beach. With liposelection it can be only a couple of weeks."

LipoSelection Offers Quick Recovery Time

From The Independent No time for surgery?

Radical new techniques are fuelling a boom in cosmetic surgery by cutting recovery times by more than half. The new procedures - aimed at women who cannot afford to take too long off work - include breast enlargements that do not require implants and the "executive facelift" which allows patients to return to work within a week.

Plastic surgeons are banking on the new wave of gentler and less intrusive procedures to woo those who have previously been put off by fears over long-term scars and length of recovery time.

This includes LipoSelection.

Blast The Fat

In this month's issue of Oxygen magazine, Dr Anthony Griffin of ABC's Extreme Makeover discusses the advantages of LipoSelection over lipsuction.

"Forget liposuction-these days, lipselection is where it's at. In this technique, the surgeon uses a heated probed to actually melt the fat before removing it. "It's like a hot knife through butter" says Griffin.

Patients experience less downtime, shorter recovery time and less bruising and swelling.
